Join us at Granville Island this Friday July 1st at 10 am onwards for a rare behind the scenes look at the vital herring recovery work occurring in False Creek. We will be set up next to the Granville Island Hotel and will be presenting exclusive herring spawning footage and a presentation on the preservation effort.

False Creek was home to a Squamish village called Snauq where thousands of tons of herring spawned yearly. Industrial development during the second World War destroyed the native spawning grounds in the area.  Through the years the Squamish Streamkeepers have found ways to renew the herring in Howe Sound and now also in False Creek.
This dedicated effort hopes to see the first big returns of the herring stock this February and spread the word about the herring enhancement projects in the area.
